After staying up one night to watch a lunar eclipse, I decided to remain outside until dawn to see the sun rise over New York City. It turned out I picked the right morning to do so – the perfect gradient of blue to green to orange caught my eye. I especially enjoyed seeing the contrast to the pitch-black buildings in the foreground. Eclipses may be rare, but it turns out each morning can provide a rare view too.
